Dental hemostatic agents are substances used to control bleeding during dental procedures. Hemostasis is crucial in dentistry to provide a clear working field, prevent blood loss, and ensure proper healing.

Vasoconstrictors: Epinephrine is often used in local anesthetics to constrict blood vessels, reducing blood flow and minimizing bleeding.

Astringents: These agents, such as aluminum chloride and ferric sulfate, cause tissue contraction and are commonly used for gingival retraction and in controlling minor bleeding.
